Shower to Tub Conversions

One of the most common remodeling projects is a tub-to-shower conversion. A conversion entails installing a shower instead of a bathtub and is usually a fairly simple process. But why do people get shower conversions, and should you get one too? Let’s find out.

1.      It creates more space

Tubs take up a lot of floor space, and considering bathrooms are usually the smallest rooms in any house, this often leads to cramped, suffocating bathrooms. A walk-in shower is perfect if you want to create the illusion of more space. By removing your bulky old bathtub, your bathroom will appear larger and brighter. This also gives you a lot more room to play around with - you can install a shower bench, keep a chair, etc.

2.      Showers are generally safer

Most slip and trips happen while getting into, or out of, the tub. This can be a pressing concern, if you live with children, or the elderly.

While we can’t promise that installing a shower instead of a tub will completely mitigate the risk of bathroom accidents, there are plenty of measures to help make showers safer, and we do deal in all of the following:

●       Shower bars and rails

●       Anti-slip shower floors

●       Shower benches and chairs

●       Low curb shower entry

●       Handheld shower heads

3.      Showers are cleaner

Tubs are, by design, intended to hold water. As with all things that exist to hold water, tubs are prone to mold, especially if you leave water in them often. And nobody enjoys the experience of scrubbing off mold.

Well-drained showers are the opposite; there are no nooks and crannies for the water to be retained and it just flows away instead. This means cleaning the shower is as easy as turning it on, which is relatively hassle free and requires no work. This brings us to our next point

4.      They’re easier to maintain

If you’re not a fan of having to clean your tub, maybe you should consider getting a shower. Showers require next to no maintenance, and, if you install sliding doors, they also limit the amount of moisture that permeates throughout your bathroom. This is especially relevant for people who keep electronics in their bathrooms.

5.      There’s more room for customization

One of the most under-rated benefits of a tub-to-shower conversion is that it gives you the opportunity to customize your shower-space to suit your needs. You can install soap holders and shelves and the like to house your necessities, and translucent doors to separate the shower from the rest of the bathroom. And that’s just to start with. The possibilities are endless, and depend entirely on what you want out of your shower.
